We are searching for a Renewable Energy Forecasting Analyst to strengthen our team. This position is located in Boston or work remotely within the United States.

We use sophisticated computer modeling systems, combined with expertise in atmospheric sciences, to help the global energy market manage renewable energy risk. Together, the information and the tools we build are helping many of world´s most successful energy companies make the critical decisions that drive the growth of clean energy.

This position is responsible for serving as the technical point of contact for clients, helping to ensure timely delivery of the highest quality renewable energy forecasts in the industry, and participating in statistical validation of 3TIER by Vaisala´s forecasts. Responsibilities:
  • Works with Vaisala´s renewable energy forecasting team to deliver high-quality forecasts on time.
  • Obtains input from client and creates, prepares, and delivers technical reports to clients.
  • Serves as technical point of contact for client, providing technical expertise and knowledge.
  • Interfaces directly with the client, attending meetings for sales purposes and technical discussions. 
  • Works directly with Vaisala´s software development team on the product and feature development cycle
  • Develops technical training materials and conducts training sessions for clients.
  • Participates in statistical validation of Vaisala´s forecasts. 
  • Analyzes, studies, and reports on the accuracy of Vaisala forecasts.
  • Sets up new forecast sites, incorporates client data, and makes ongoing forecast improvements.
  • Responds to client requests and troubleshoots problems with forecast delivery.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Atmospheric Science, or Computer Science is required.
  • Experience in power systems, electric grid operations, energy markets or energy load forecasting is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics for forecast validation and comparison.
  • Familiarity with time series analysis, artificial intelligence, and decision support systems
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
