JOB TITLE: Analyst – Load Forecasting

Position Summary:

The Load Forecasting Analyst assists in preparing Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation’s (AECC) Long Term Load Forecast.  In addition, the Load Forecasting Analyst will work with different departments, distribution cooperatives and consultants regarding specific forecasting needs, such as: Balancing Authority Resource Adequacy, Resource Planning, Meter Point Planning, Distribution Planning Work Plans, Budget Forecasts, and Hourly/Daily Forecasts for the MISO and SPP Markets. Also, the Load Forecasting Analyst will assist in weather adjusting AECC's annual summer peak as well as assist in analyzing AECC's Demand Side Management.  The Load Forecasting Analyst is responsible for maintaining, analyzing, and reporting on large amounts of demographic, economic and load data for AECC.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing the Long Term Load Forecasts for AECC and its distribution cooperatives by using econometric modeling in accordance to Rural Utilities Service’s (RUS) guidelines.
  • Assist in coordinating AECC's Appliance Saturation Survey (End-Use Survey) as mandated by RUS.
  • Assist in preparing an annual Demand Response Survey that evaluates the peak shaving efforts of AECC and its member cooperatives.
  • Assist in calculating and preparing demand and energy forecasts by balancing authority for annual operating budgets.
  • Assist in calculating AECC's weather adjusted summer peak load.
  • Assist in preparing various reports on behalf of AECC and its member cooperatives to RUS, the Arkansas Public Service Commission, and other governmental entities.
  • Obtain and maintain economic and demographic data for use in various studies.
  • Assist with and develop methodologies whereby the Long Term Forecast may be adjusted for different needs.
  • Assist in preparing numerous internal reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and be able to evaluate and use, various commercially available statistical packages.
  • Maintain contact and communications with personnel of like responsibilities in other load-serving entities.  Attend related technical conferences to keep abreast of related current developments, and use every opportunity to become better qualified in those areas of responsibility and performance.
  • Assist Market Operations Support with preparing additional statistical analysis.
  • Cross-train with AECC's short term forecaster.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors in Mathematics or related, plus 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Two years of experience is preferred.
