DESCRIPTION

As a Utility Industry Forecasting Consultant you will focus on: (1) supporting global SAS Utilities Sales teams in achieving revenue targets by providing industry/business domain expertise in the area of energy forecasting, (2) developing and promoting industry/business domain viewpoints on the SAS Energy Forecasting offering and representing those viewpoints to customers and prospects, and (3) providing strategic impact to the Americas and EMEA/AP Utilities Business Units’ go-to-market plans for SAS Energy Forecasting.

Additionally you will drive the product direction and vision around SAS Energy Forecasting and prepare it to be transitioned to R&D. You will gather market-driven information by consulting with customers, prospects, analysts and other external/internal resources in order to set product direction and manage product lifecycles.  You will define and manage new product requirements and use cases, collaborate with R&D, other product managers, and other internal teams to manage resources and prioritize product features, and be responsible for the product strategy, vision and roadmap for SAS Energy Forecasting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Included among your duties will be:

Sales Support

-Supporting Sales in all stages of sales engagements
-Providing direct industry/business energy forecasting domain sales support through sales calls, sales tool development, and coaching for the sales force on industry-focused account strategies
-Leading the sales organization with new account penetration strategies for SAS Energy Forecasting
-Preparing and delivering presentations to customers and prospects at the highest levels of management

Sales Development

-Participating in activities that demonstrate SAS’s industry experience and leadership
-Serving as the SAS Energy Forecasting product expert with external audiences
-Assisting in targeting specific customers and business partners to promote industry sales and marketing initiatives
-Publishing industry articles and white papers
-Speaking at internal and external industry events
-Participating with senior management to identify and establish objectives, assignments, and goals in accordance with SAS strategic plans
-Developing and maintaining relationships with partners, key consultancies, and system integrators to establish focused and effective strategic teaming arrangements
-Working closely with Sales staff, Sales management, and -Marketing staff to ensure successful positioning of SAS Energy -Forecasting and that a consistent message is communicated to our customers and/or business partners

Sales Enablement

-Developing workshops to educate enable Sales, Marketing, and Professional Services teams
-Identifying competitor advances in the market
-Identifying industry trends and emerging issues and defining SAS’s position regarding these trends and issues
-Product Management
-Working closely with R&D to prioritize new product features based on market requirements, available resources, and product release cycle timelines
-Collecting and documenting product requirements and prioritizing appropriately
-Assessing competing products
-Defining user personas and supporting use cases
-Working with development partners and early adopters
-Assessing build/buy decisions
-Analyzing and making recommendations regarding potential partner relationships
-Working collaboratively to set pricing, positioning, and promotional activities

General

-Building, managing or participating in a virtual team comprised of worldwide members
-Other duties as directed

Qualifications

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field
• 5 years of experience in electric utility load forecasting including hands-on experience using SAS forecasting tools
• Ability to travel 50% domestically and internationally as business requires

Additional

• Extensive knowledge of the electric utilities industry
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into software requirements that can be developed by R&D teams
• Ability to translate complex technical and business information for diverse audiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Public speaking experience
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and negotiation skills
• Ability to work and learn independently and as part of a team
• Ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally as business needs require
• Ability to relate technical concepts to system applications and user needs
• Ability to prioritize feature requirements in a pragmatic fashion

Preferences

• Advanced knowledge of forecasting software terminology and concepts
• Ph. D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or Economics
• Experience with SAS/ETS or SAS Forecast Server
• Experience in power systems engineering and power flow analysis
• Knowledge of the global electric utilities industry including regulatory and operational environments
• Experience in the application of mathematical optimization and operations research techniques in the electric utilities industry
• Understanding of competitive solution offerings in the market
• Experience or exposure with SAS analytic tools (e.g., statistics, data mining, forecasting, and/or operations research) and environments to support operational decision-making or decision management systems
