SAS provides the ability to combine data from disparate data sources (such as transactional and operational systems) to provide more comprehensive analysis and reporting to better meet corporate business requirements. As a Solutions Architect specializing in SAS advanced analytics you will help in the support of our sales efforts to various industries with focus on the Industrial and Energy and Utilities industry sectors.  Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to think “big picture” in a way that will help create a vision for potential customers, while mapping out the practical and functional details needed to execute a completed vision.

In order to help SAS successfully maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, you will be responsible for providing consultative guidance, including new positioning and capabilities development, demonstrations of software, proof of concept development & delivery, and business oriented presentations that highlight the value and uniqueness of SAS offerings to prospect organizations.  You will also be a significant contributor to a team of people dedicated to ensuring SAS prospect and customer’s business objectives are well understood and SAS software’s capabilities are appropriately aligned to a successful adoption and implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Building a trusted relationship with the sales team, and client account providing practical and theoretical guidance in the business value of proposed solution and setting proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Providing provocative thought leadership to clients in the identification of areas where technology assets can be applied to existing business processes to drive improved results
  • Conducting discovery meeting to collect, analyze, clarify and document business requirements during the sales cycle to support the implementation team and to produce a detailed solution proposal.
  • Delivering standard, customized and/or strategic, senior level solution demonstrations and presentations outlining the functional capabilities, competitive advantages and business benefits of the SAS solutions as they apply to client needs
  • Executing Proof-of-Concepts from creation to execution with our clients
  • Providing reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects and technologies.


Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or other quantitative field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a sales support role selling complex software solutions to VP and C-level executives.
  • Domain expertise in the Energy and/or Utilities Industry and familiarity with Machine to Machine communications (the integration of complex physical machinery with networked sensors and software).
  • Hands on experience with Distributed File System (i.e. Hadoop) and Frameworks (i.e. Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR, etc.) and Cloud Based Services (i.e. Amazon Web Services, IBM Cloud, etc.).
  • Hands on experience with SAS software tools, techniques and methodologies.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • An understanding of High Performance Analytics including the architecture and benefits from In-Memory Analytics, In-Database and Grid Computing.
  • Thorough understanding of forecasting as it relates to energy demands (short, long & mid-term)
  • Project leadership skills
  • The ability to demonstrate expert knowledge of SAS functionality and the means of solving business problems through innovative use of analytic methods and practical approaches to customer requirements.       
  • A track record with examples of the ability to understand, utilize and communicate best practice methodologies internally and externally.
  • The ability to work and learn both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to travel 25-50% of the time as business needs require
