Position Summary:

The Market Analytics Program Manager will support the growing analytical needs of the department and the company overall as data collection efforts expand. The primary duties of the position will include enhancing numerous areas of the planning functions contained in the department, for instance the load forecast, program evaluation, big data analytics and customer segmentation. Also, given the company-wide mission to be more customer obsessed the position will serve as the liaison to other areas that require rigorous and robust analytics. Analysis performed by the position will be shared with CPS Energy's strategic planning areas. Also, the position support strategic level decisions through research and analysis in the Demand-Side Analytics department of CPS Energy.

Working Environment:

Indoor work, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, hearing. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator.Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions and other business related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Job Function:

Provides subject matter expertise and strategic vision in the areas of forecasting, big data analytics and program evaluation. Identifies opportunities for changes and/or enhancements to existing processes to ensure that the analytical thinking at CPS energy is as comprehensive as possible. Develops, maintains and applies knowledge and expertise on fundamental and technical subjects and issues relating to load forecasting, big data approaches and solutions, demand-side management programs, solar, rate design and the impact of various products and services in the utility space. Develops and communicates reports, presentations, recommendations, comments, and proposals to Director of Demand-side analytics and CPSE Management and/or Board of Directors. Represents CPSE Management before internal and external stakeholders, as needed.Provides thought leadership for the department within the analytics framework. Lead internal coordination efforts with ESMO, SERP and the other planning functions at CPS energy. Performs work independently and collaboratively with external vendors and other organizations as necessary.

Position Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree and above from an accredited college or university, preferably in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or other related field
  • At least three years prior forecasting, big data analytics and/or program evaluation knowledge
  • Strong background in modeling building in software packages such as SAS, R and Matlab. History with dealing with large datasets preferred
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, planning, multi-tasking, negotiation, problem-solving, verbal, written and communication skills;
  • Must possess sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving skills;
  • Possess strong personal computer skills, (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.);
  • Ability to work with time constraints and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with other team members, ERCOT. PUCT and other government agencies, contractors, consultants, industry experts, and with all levels of personnel within CPS Energy;
  • Knowledge of the electric utility industry;
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence others;
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflicts;
  • Ability to articulate complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships to achieve business objectives;
  • Ability to provide expertise and advice to management.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
  • Must have favorable driving record.
