Project Analyst (Energy Efficiency)

About the Job

Nexant is currently seeking energy efficiency Project Analysts for our Cary, NC, Louisville, CO and Malvern, PA offices for our Customer Strategy Planning and Analysis Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing statistical, analytical, and technical support services for Nexant’s analysis of energy efficiency, renewables, and demand response technologies and programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mid-level analyst or engineering support: data collection, project research, energy analytics, etc.
  • Work independently and in teams to conduct tasks related to research projects and participate in research efforts.
  • Conduct market characterization studies in energy efficiency
  • Contribute to energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy market potential studies with measure research and MS Excel modeling
  • Perform energy savings calculations for energy efficiency measures
  • Conduct impact evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses for energy efficiency programs
  • Develop survey instruments and research design.
  • Conduct primary and secondary data collection efforts as well as data analysis.
  • Maintain quality control of deliverable products, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project schedules.
  • Technical report writings; contribute to draft reports, including results and actionable recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in engineering or research related field of study (mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, statistical analysis, econometrics, economics, energy policy, business, finance, physics etc.).
  • Interest in clean energy and renewable technologies
  • 0-3 years of experience and/or education within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry
  • An understanding of building systems (particularly HVAC), thermodynamics, and heat transfer a plus
  • Experience in energy simulation modeling is a plus
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as: Stata, SQL, R, SAS, SPSS, Excel, Access, Python or other database software is desired
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (macros/VBA proficiency a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience preparing reports detailing analytical findings
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills are mandatory
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work independent of direct supervision at times
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
